Go Green, or Go Home (And Have a Hard Time Selling)
Earth Day celebrated its 49th anniversary this past Monday – and with it comes even more evidence of future homeowners wanting to see the green.
If you don’t have energy-saving appliances, you might want to reconsider.
A recent Zillow study found that if a home features solar energy systems, it will sell for 4.1% more on average than houses without. The report also found that 80% of homebuyers believe energy efficient features are a must – even if it means paying more for their dream real estate property.
Not only are “green features” excellent for the environment, they’re also great for the homeowner’s wallet. With energy efficient installations, homeowners could potentially be saving a lot more down the road.
While it does matter where you live to see a substantial bump in value with these solar-energy elements, the median-valued home saw an additional $9,274 to their overall price when green features were added.
Are you going green?
